SSADOR PROFESSOR CHARLES MURIGANDE, PHD, MBA IS APPOINTED NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE AETRADE GROUP
20 October 2022 – Today Mr. Mulualem Syoum, Founder and CEO of the AeTrade Group announced the appointment of Professor Ambassador Charles Murigande, an eminent leader in Rwanda with a strong academic background who brings vast experience in political and diplomatic affairs as well as notable achievements in institutional development in Rwanda. “We are honored and pleased to welcome Ambassador Professor Murigande to this new assignment which will contribute to the continent’s economic development”. said Mr. Mulualem Syoum We look forward to benefiting from his wisdom and extensive experience, including in the field of science, technology and innovation, as work towards achieving the AeTrade Group mission and vision.
Ambassador Professor Charles Murigande retired in May 2020 after a career spanning nearly three decades with notable achievements in public service. He has served in a number of Ministerial positions in the Government of Rwanda including Education (with Science, Technology and Research portfolio), Cabinet Affairs, Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Transport and Communications). He has also served as Advisor to the President of Rwanda on Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to Japan, with cross-accreditation to Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and the Philippines. He brings experience in senior Advisory positions including as Scientific Advisor to the Director General of the Geographical Institute of Burundi (IGEBU).
With a PhD Summa Cum Laude in Applied Mathematics from University of Namur, Belgium, obtained in September 1986 and an MBA (option Leadership and Innovation) from University of Canberra, Australia, obtained in April, 2017 he served in various academic and administrative capacities, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, University of Rwanda (UR), the largest and most comprehensive university in Rwanda.
