Ethiopia Signs Host Country Agreement with AeTrade Group

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and  the AeTrade Group  sign the host country agreement to establish the AeTrade Group Regional Headquarters for East Africa and pledge to catalyse 80 – to 125 million Jobs by 2037 across the continent.


Addis Ababa– The A-Trade Group wishes to express its gratitude to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, for his approval of the Host Country Agreement that was signed today.  in. The  Agreement was signed by Ambassador Mesganu, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr Mulualem Syoum, the CEO of the AeTrade Group in the presence of several dignitaries and several senior officials of the Government of Ethiopia and the AeTrade Group.

The  AeTrade Group is a social enterprise with a partnership with the AfCFTA Secretariat and is mandated by Executive Council Decision EX. CL./Dec.1144 (XL) of 2-3 February 2022, to work with the AUC and all stakeholders to accelerate Digital and Financial inclusion focusing on empowering SMEs, women, and youth across Africa. The AeTrade Group has an innovative Sokokuu Integrated ecosystem that provides easier access to know-how, markets and affordable finance for eligible MSMEs..

Speaking on behalf of the Government of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arga stated that “ the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commends Ato Mulualem and the AeTrade Group leadership for their vision and steadfast commitment to bring innovative solutions to complement our existing national efforts in digital capacity-building and export readiness for MSMEs in order to enjoy the benefits of the AfCFTA. . We are pleased to offer the AeTrade Group a permanent home for their operations in East Africa  and we look forward to many years of fruitful cooperation in the service of the people of Ethiopia, East Africa, and indeed the entire African continent”


“Our goal is to catalyze the creation of between 80-125  million jobs by 2037 by supporting sustainable business groups using our integrated ecosystem “, said the CEO of the AeTrade Group, Mr Mulualem SYOUM.” “From our office in Addis Ababa, we have a capable leadership team that will drive the scaling up of strategic initiatives in the region that include IGAD and COMESA Member States within East Africa. We look forward to co-organizing the annual Africa Job Creation Forum/Summit in Addis Ababa in 2025 and making this a flagship event in the calendar of events”

 

The parties signed the Agreement at Ministry of Foreign of Ethiopia.
